- noun A genus of plants, natural order Leguminosæ, one species of which, C. Indicus, furnishes a sort of pulse used in tropical countries. It is a shrub from 3 to 10 feet high, and a native of the East Indies, but now extensively cultivated throughout the tropics, in numerous varieties. The plant is called cajan, pigeon pea, Angola pea, Congo pea, etc.
