I believe certain other conditions, such as generating a number too small or too large to be represented as a floating point value, or calling a trionometric function with an invalid input can also generate a NaN.

In particular, they point out that two different NaN entries are *not* equal.

Instead, if you want to determine if a value is indeed NaN, you can use the isNaN () function.
