These two languages are spoken adjacent to, respectively, Kagulu and Sagala of West Ruvu, and both show borrowing influence from these neighbor languages, making it highly probable that the occurrence of the root in Ngulu and Lugulu is also a borrowing reflective of the adoption of this institution from their neighbors in recent centuries.

Complicating a clear historical understanding of its location, it is worth noting some people have alternatively reported that the Kolelo shrine resided in the Ngulu Mountains while others reported it was in the Uluguru Mountains. 117 This inconsistency may reflect that Doe and Lugulu, who knew they had ancestral ties to areas in the Ngulu Mountains and the Rufiji zones, visited both areas for propitiatory purposes in times of difficulty. 118

By the close of the first millennium CE, these ethnolinguistic communities covered a region that extended south of the Rufiji River, north to the southern edges of the Ngulu Mountains, and west to the edges of the Maasai steppe.

Today, it is found in Kaguru and Seuta's Ngulu, and Zigua, all Wami descendants.
