As an atheist, I have to say that 1) these conventional and traditional religious gestures (and symbols) don’t mean doodly-squat to me in terms of offensiveness and 2) any fair reading of the framers’ intent on the e/c-especially when the states as “framers” are factored in-suggests that the core idea of s-o-c-a-s was not about absolute neutrality or separation.

Moreover, this theory doesn’t explain why someone like a university professor, with the cushiest, most non-demanding (seriously, and I come from a family of them, and I’m telling you that it’s a relatively easy job) can get really great pay while someone who works as a cop or a firefighter gets paid doodly-squat?
