Funnel cakes at the county fair each August -- a little piece of heaven on earth!

Falafel sounds like it may qualify on the "fried" side of things, but I'm still unconvinced about the "goodness" factor, particularly since I don't care for pepper. I'll investigate and get back to you.
P.S. Funnel cakes are right up there with bacon. Heaven forbid I ever have to choose.

Falafel is a chickpea-based, meatless meatball. Spiced to perfection, it is fried, then lovingly placed in a half-moon shaped piece of "pita bread" and topped with a mouth-watering dressing of garlic/cucumber/spices infused yoghurt. Mmmmm.

I bake falafel too as it's tricky to get the right consistency for frying.
What's a hush puppy? In Australia it's a style of shoe. I'm hoping Americans don't deep-fry and and eat them *worried*

dontcry commented on the word fried goodness
Not a shoe! Hushpuppies are like small rounds of fried sweet cornbread batter.

Bilby: The trick to frying falafel is waiting for the batter to set up before making the balls. Then, you can let them set a bit as well. Sometimes a quick trip to the fridge is in order.

Falafel? Well, feel better soon!*
*my favorite get-well card.
Falafel's okay, I guess. But I love chick peas so much that I don't understand why people do a series of horrible destructive things to their lovely cheeky beauty in order to eat them.
Except hummus. All bets are off with hummus.

I respectively submit to c_b that the treatmet of the chickpea in the preparation of falafel is not so different than in the preparation of hummus. In fact, the chickpea is left more intact (coarser and heavier) in falafel than in the lighter-than-air, lemony, pureed hummus.

chained_bear commented on the word fried goodness
Well, I guess if you make it lemony and lighter than air... I don't, I just kinda hunk it up with lots of garlic. :)
(did you mean respectively? I'm trying to gauge the level of anger/sarcasm in your comment...)

I'm trying to comprehend a 'meatless meatball'. It's exactly the same as a footless football, right?
