A long-strawed variety of wheat in Britain introduced in about 1910 and available from agricultural seedsmen until the late 1950's, when it was superseded by stiffer-strawed, higher-yielding wheat varieties in the 1950's, and removed from farm seed catalogs. - So says the article "Goodbye Little Joss by one Michael Holden in the Winter 1956 issue of the British agricultural periodical The Countryman, p.701.
