• noun In Guam, the knob-fruited screw-pine, Pandanus dubius, a species with broad coarse leaves and a head of fruit composed of drupes each of which terminates in a projecting point. The seed kernels are edible and have a pleasant flavor, but are not a food staple of the natives. The leaves are too stiff for textile uses, though on other islands they are sometimes woven into mats of inferior quality after having been made pliable by heat.
