I did take a moment during the day to pop out with Olivia (who perked up a bit at midday before going downhill again) and go to the chemist for more Calpol and throat lozenges, pop into my local haberdashery for much needed plain black cotton and more pelmet vilene (ok, and a few other goodies, too, of course), and a quick foray into McDonald's for a milkshake to ease the sore throat.

I've decided I'm going to do small puzzles (fabric on pelmet vilene) inside a clear pocket, which will fasten somehow (I'm actually thinking something basic like a piece of sellotape) in the post.

Thanks Kate for your advice on the pelmet vilene, I've tracked some down on ebay but when I go over to the US in the summer I'll look out for timtex!

I've used pelmet vilene between the two layers (stiff interfacing), but no batting.

And here's the fibre landscape, finished now (last night) except the finishing, so to speak - I am not quite sure how I am going to edge it, but I think the first order of business is another layer of pelmet vilene for stability, and then perhaps a nice fabric back (fused on) to be pretty.

Today I had a go at the first page - this is the front (left) and back (right) - I think I am going to put pelmet vilene (a stiff interfacing) between the pages instead of batting.

I was going to start another group of cards, but didn't have enough pelmet vilene on hand, so made the mistake of suggesting to my mother and Alex that we go out to New Malden in search of some and have a nice coffee and run a few more errands while we were there.
