- noun A genus of plants of the family Malvaceæ, containing about a score of West American annual and perennial herbs. The flowers are mostly destitute of involucels, in color white, purple, or pink, borne in terminal racemes; the leaves are palmately cleft or parted. A few of the hardy perennial species are in cultivation.
