I never thought I’d hear the words “skoden” on a Hulu/FX show. Used either as a meme or in earnest between Native Americans, it’s Rez slang for “let’s go then.” Within the first minute of Reservation Dogs’ pilot, a decisive “skoden” throws its four main characters into a hot chip truck heist. As a Seminole Indian who grew up on the Rez, that level of recognition was exhilarating.

Some words and phrases will even send non-Indigenous individuals for more information. For example, “Skoden” means “Let’s go then”; “Aho” is “Hello” or “Thank you”; and ‘Cvpon” an affectionate word for boy or young man.

I can't speak for stoodis, but I'm from Oklahoma and sko and skoden aren't particular to natives. The stereotypical oklahoma accent is basically just mumbling so I catch myself saying things like sko all the time. I did grow up with a bunch of natives though so maybe I'm appropriating. You can actually also catch sko and skoden in king of the hill episodes too since the way those characters talk is influenced by Oklahoma vernacular.
