yarb commented on the word smarter than the average bear
Are you sure, cb? Bears are extremely intelligent. For example, I'd like to see you swinging casually from my in-laws' cast-iron bird feeder as it slowly buckles under your weight.

reesetee commented on the word smarter than the average bear
No, yarb. You really wouldn't.

chained_bear commented on the word smarter than the average bear
I take umbrage at that, reesetee. I swing on cast-iron just as well as any other bear. And as for it buckling under my weight--let's keep in mind that *chains* weigh something too. I can buckle it faster. And smell less while doing so.
Nyah!

Yes, but you'd have to get yourself to yarb's in-laws' house then, wouldn't you? And wouldn't that be kind of...er...you know...intrusive?
Just sayin'.

yarb commented on the word smarter than the average bear
I don't think they would mind, they're very welcoming. They probably wouldn't notice if you came round in the middle of the night, as long as the chains didn't clank too much.

chained_bear commented on the word smarter than the average bear
Oh no, of course not, yarb. Usually I use the chains to my advantage--swing them over something, grab it with my other paw, and cascade down a mooring rope a la Errol Flynn or Jack Sparrow--that sort of thing. I daresay they'd be a help rather than a hindrance in buckling your in-laws' bird feeder.
