I read LORD OF THE FIRE LANDS today and y'all were right; it's a perfectly adequate mid-list fantasy novel, just badly constructed, what with that 200 page expository lump that starts abotu page 50, right when things were getting interesting, and it goes on like that, telling three generations of backstory before catching up to the present again whereupon the novel became interesting once more.
