I thought the cgi/3-d stuff was really good, but not really, change-the-way-we-make-films good, the cgi acting still has a way to go before it even starts to compete with human characters, although in avatar it was a step forward.

I'd imagine that the majority of the theaters/chains that opted for the price increase have a small percentage of their screens being digital and thus limit the number of times a film can be shown a day and for theaters with one digital screen being limited to one screen with 3-d capability can't be good for buisness.
