I can't recommend what I haven't used, so (for the 9x19mm Parabellum) I can say the Browning HiPower, SIG P226 or 228 are good choices, but bargains for these models are apparently difficult to find, even for used pieces.

I don't consider the 9mm Parabellum a seriously undernourished cartridge, but I have recommended the .40 S&W to those who are weighing the merits of their next purchase.

Years ago I could routinely see 9mm Parabellum and .45 auto bullets going down range when I was in the service or when I was at the pistol range in the years that followed.
