This appears plausible at first sight, since most progenitor scenarios for SNe Ia involve the accretion of almost a solar mass of ma terial from a binary companion before the thermonuclear run away, allowing the WD to pick up a substantial amount of angular momentum.

By z = 8, reionization was mostly finished, and since Pop III stars only live a few million years, there will already have been like 100 generations of SNe and ISM metal enrichment.

Given the star role Ia SNe play note that it's really only Ia which are used as primary standard candles, a great deal of work has been done – and continues to be done – on any unaccounted for systematics … of which asymmetries are but one.

Solrey, the Sun is the brightest object in the sky, in all wavebands of the EM spectrum, with the exception of very high energy gammas transients aside; GRBs, SNe, etc, certainly outshine the Sun briefly.

Though very new research seems to indicate stars massive enough to produce pair-production instability SNe even exist in the nearby universe.

Recall that Type Ia SNe are (as far as we can tell) the nuclear detonation of a white dwarf (WD) star … and that the trigger for the detonation involves the acquisition of mass (hydrogen, helium, in some mixture) by transfer from a close binary companion.

The progenitor of the Ia SNe – the almost-but-not-quite-at-the-limit white dwarf – would slowly dim, grow cold, and fade away … if it were not for its close companion.

I have to go back and remember where I read this, but I think there have also been some studies that suggest that galaxies 1 Gyr after a starburt (starburst galaxies being those forming lots of stars right now) show chemical signatures of enhanced SNe Ia.
