alexz commented on the word Stygian hole
The EFF called Google's removal of a privacy tool a 'Stygian hole'. This phrase was repeated by dozens of news organizations, but I don't think there is a clear meaning to this phrase. Was the EFF making a reference to Ultima's (game) Stygian abyss? Is it a reference to dark and gloomy? or were they calling it hellish? By hole, are they referring to a security hole (vulnerability). or a large pit? Is the EFF's usage a hellish dark and gloomy security vulnerability?
