  • noun The name in Brazil and Paraguay for a tree of the mimosa family, Stachychrysum rigidum, which yields an extremely hard, durable, dark-brown wood, and a gum similar to gum arabic. Both the gum and the astringent bark are used medicinally by the natives. See Piptadenia.
