- noun cricket A small
depression in thepitch caused by batsmentapping their bats on thepoint where they havetaken block . The description of the "blockhole" being a physical location has caused much debate within the cricketing community. Many assert that the "blockhole" is actually the general area in which the batsman takes guard. A ball bowled into the "blockhole" will generally force the batsman to play a "blocking" type shot.
