moving snow banks. This is caused by aerodynamics of air moving new snow over a snowbank, forming a new snowbank behind the first one, so the snow drifts move as they are formed.
you will see drifting snow on highways where the road was plowed, and new snowdrifts form in the middle of the road due to air flowing over the plowed banks on the side of the road.
