- noun A name of somewhat vague application, but generally given to an Australian lory, Aprosmictus scapulatus, which has a brilliant red head and neck, green back and wings, and dark blue tail. Also known as king-parrakeet and king-lory. The female, of a dull green, with dull blue tail, is known as the queen-parrot.
