After estimates of solar, albedo, aerosol and greenhouse gases were made, sensitivities that equate to a 2xCO2 sensitivity of 2-2.5C were required to explain the climate of the last glacial maximum (a cold period) and mid-cretacious maximum (a warm period) in Hoffert & Covey “Deriving global climate sensitivity from palaeoclimate reconstructions” Nature 1992.
