- noun An individual of the germs Pliosaurus, which comprises gigantic plesiosaurs with large head, short nock, elongated mandibular symphysis, jaws provided with powerful carinated teeth sometimes 25 centimeters long, and with limb-girdles similar to those of Plesiosaurus. The genus occurs in rocks from the Lias to the Upper Jura. in Europe and India.
