- An order of dicotyledonous choripetalous plants, characterized by scapose flowers and basal leaves which secrete a viscid liquor and are often greatly modified for the entrapping of insects. It embraces the three families Sarraceniaceæ, Nepenthaceæ, and Droseraceæ, to which most insectivorous plants belong.
