Great, thanks!
-
Thanks bilby! We're looking into it ...
-
I get 404 errors when I click the Sort By links from the drop-down on any list. May only be on longer lists, not sure.
-
Thanks bilby!

I seem to have lost all my lists. I had to sign up again, using all the same details, now I tried accessing the feedback, got a verification code through my email which was not accepted on the feed back page! So how do I contact someone to resolve all this. I'd love to be able to access my old lists
Louise

i need to start using the reverse dictionary more often now, i've noticed it's a beast on some words.
-
thanks marky! Still working on some list fixes, hope they will be up soon!
-
glad to see the formatting in the list description area is back. thank you. i'm loving it, so far. no complaints.
-
good morrow all
i found a way—i think—for you to remove terms added to your open lists by others. see my comment up in here: http://support.wordnik.com/wordnik/topics/cant_delete_other_users_words_on_own_list
-
ok, yeah its starting to act goofy again even on smaller lists.
-
thanks marky -- we're seeing some high loads that we're looking into now, too.
-
seems faster now. i know some of my big lists are reaching critical mass, prolly make a 'part 2' of those lists to speed things up. i don't need delays right now thanks
-
thanks marky! We're looking into it, there's a chance there was a regression on the server side of things ...
-
ok is it me or is the site becoming more sluggish? is it my lists are getting too long, or my connection or computer? anyone else have any insight? thank you.
-
formatting in the list descriptions seems to not be working. as in bold, italic etc
-
(Great, look forward to it.) x 2

Hi bilby! We've found the fix, and it will be deployed next week ...

Hi bilby! We've found the fix, and it will be deployed next week ...
-
Sent to the feedback email address. Thanks.
-
oh weird. Okay, will try to fix! Any way you could send a screenshot?
-
Yes we have no bananapants that look like that at all.
-
Okay -- so this is what I'm seeing, which I'm assuming is not what you're seeing? (Small matter of username aside?)
-
Firefox 18.0.1, i.e. the latest. Nothing else seems awry.
-
Hi bilby! that should have a black background, I will try to see where it went ... can you let me know what browser you're using?
-
The link to user dashboard et al, i.e. where I click on bilby to get the flop down list of 'my stuff', is practically invisible becaue it's white text on white background. I don't know if this is a screen size issue or if everyone gets it. The link is slightly more visible if I scroll down the page because a toolbar self-apparates and it has a greyish background, hence I have white on grey.
-
yes for sure, i'll compile a good little outline. thanks
-
marky you're totally right, as usual. There is definitely a better way ... I can't find your email with the suggestion right now, could you resend to feedback and I'll make a ticket for it?
Thanks!

overall the site is working nicely, but there's one thing that's very annoying and that's the tedious 3 clicks and 2 scrolls it takes to list a word from the word page itself. (1 to drop to the list area, 2 to expand that list, and then the scroll to find that list which is rather long and ridiculous easier to ctrl-f and search UGH, then a final 3rd click to check the box) that is truly crazy. surely u agree. i've outlined a better solution before and i'm sure that's one of many but really it's easier to open a list tab and then copy or type the words out. that's not too intuitive or fancy at all.
i've got about 20 tabs of words i like and i'm cringing at the thought of how to go about this.
-
thanks marky -- that would be useful. I'm not sure if we have API support for that right now, I will check!
-
programatically it might be a bit tricky, but this is one really useful 'feature' or more of a granular control: on our list page, in the drop down 'organize by' list, have an option for 'most recently active'. for me this would streamline my workflow immensely!
-
:-) I think it would be a very nice addition. Thanks!
-
Oh, yes, I know those! I will see how easy that is to add. It must be, or it wouldn't be everywhere ...
-
I don't know how to say it, but most forums have a toolbar at the edge of comment boxes. You type your comment, then you select the part you would like to see italicized, click "I" on the toolbar, and that bit of text is in italics now. You want to post a link? You type "check this out", select "this", click "link" on the toolbar, a window pops up, you paste your YouTube link, et voila, you still read "check this out" but the word "this" links to the YouTube video. Without me having to type all the HTML code.

Dear Prolagus, thank you! I know it is frustrating not to be able to find what you need.
We're working on a lot of these things but progress is (a lot) slower than we'd like.
Can you give me more feedback on what you'd like the comment boxes to be like? And I'm not sure I understand the problem with clickable text with a link is -- is it a problem with putting in a href= type tags?
Thank you again for the feedback. I know it comes from a good place ... I wish I had firm dates for certain improvements and updates.

Hello Feedback,
I would just like to say that I still find Wordnik quite messy.
I simply can't find what I need, when I need it. And this is why I hardly ever use it, despite my love for the community.
For instance, comment boxes; conversations arranged in a meaningful way on the community page (I'd like to see all recent comments posted to a word/list page somehow grouped together, not as distinct entries).
I'd like to have collaborative lists that are not open to anyone, like we used to have in the YOW days.
I'd like to have a quick-translate button (again, something we used to have) for a first hint about a word's meaning when I don't need anything sophisticated.
And finally, and most urgent, I would really need something better than the 'feeling fancy' text suggesting how to use HTML. I think I said that before: a drop-down gizmo would be great. I don't even understand how to post some clickable text with a link anymore (see ë), and my computer skills are, I believe, above average.
I'm not complaining, I'm actually concerned for you. If I ended up visiting Word Reference more often than I visit Wordnik, other people are probably doing so.
-
Thanks marky -- good to know. There are a lot of list enhancements we would like to add!
-
i know its not community-oriented but i wish we could make private lists.
-
Thanks marky -- we just fixed that this morning, it will go live in a few minutes. :-)
-
thx i can get back into my long lists now, but new lists throw a server error page.
-
Thanks marky -- it's our top-priority issue. Seems like a problem with lists over 1000 items right now. :-(
-
speaking of not loading long lists.. i'm using Lubuntu now. Chrome Version 20.0.1132.47 Ubuntu 12.04 (144678) i can't even get my long lists.
No data received
Unable to load the web page because the server sent no data
:(
-
lazy loading sounds like a good idea ... I'll look into it! Thanks!
-
kind of.. its when the page only loads some content until you scroll down then at the bottom you may see a loading spinner that waits and then loads more content. here's a page that takes a while to load erin: http://www.wordnik.com/lists/b-adjectival-arcana-a
it may be useful to have the option at the top to load all content at once, but have a note that it maybe slow on longer lists? but honestly i think there's a problem with the server.. it shouldn't take this long to load 8000 words.
-
What's lazy loading? Is it like sitting on the couch eating doughnuts?
-
there seems to be a delay thats back on some of the page loads with thousands of words. i wonder if a lazy loading script would help.
-
another handy feature concerning list organization aside from being able to categorize our own lists would be to be able to categorize other lists from our favorites. i know this is a bit nit-picky but i could use this too at this point .. it gets overwhelming as you probably are aware of erin. :)
i have my own reasons for this and i'm sure there are other users (present and future) that could utilize something like this for their own needs i would think.
-
great! thanks for taking a look!
-
It seems to be working well now. Thank you!
-
thanks oroboros! The bad news is that this is a known bug. The good news is that we have a fix for it, and it should be rolled out to the site early next week!
Thanks again for reporting this -- I'm sorry for the hassle.

Sionnach, I'll make a support ticket for the list issue and forward it to John. We're in holiday mode, so things are moving slower than usual, so bear with us.
The link to OneLook is still there. Under the "Definitions" column on an entry's summary page, click on "elsewhere on the web" and you should see it in the list.
Of course, we are always looking to add more definitions at all times. I keep a "words not in" file, so if you come across anything you feel like we should have, by all means leave a note here or drop me a line at grant@wordnik.com and I'll add yours to mine and see if we can find a source that satisfies us both.

FYI, the pronunciation server was kicked.
Prolagus, there's a support ticket for your request, though I can't give you a timetable on a fix.

Prolagus, all of those weird examples are already on their way out of the database, fortunately, so there's no need to report them. Other issues are best reported here or to feedback@wordnik.com, where we're sure to see them.

Rolig, just wanted to let you know that there are indeed situations in which moving from certain parts of the site to other parts of the site logs you out. Engineers are working on it. The rest of us are putting wood on the fire.
