Thanks for your support & kind words- don't worry- I'm not despairing or anything. I'm rather fond of this site. I stumbled upon it, quite serendipitously, while sitting in a hospital recovery room after the birth of my daughter. Since then it has been a rather wonderful resource and relaxation aid. I just don't like upsetting people. So I apologize to shevek, and with fresh sensitivity- we move forward.

It's a shame really- that I've managed to upset so many people. That was never my intention. I am not Jewish, but I am a hebrew scholar- and the Tetragrammaton is a kethiv kere- that is- what is written and what is read differ (out of respect for the holiness of His name). I am a christian educator- i teach Hebraics & Biblical Greek- I also pastor a small island church. The passage I posted (now deleted) if from Deuteronomy- the "Shema". It may be part of Jewish liturgy, but it is more than that- it is the core of Christian doctrine as well- it is shared liturgy, if you will. Christ quotes it in Matthew 22. I stand in awe of my God, & the beauty of His word as revealed to the prophets & scribes is one of my greatest joys. It is sad that I cannot share that in forums like this without angering my peers. I promise now to refrain & stick to secular words & phrases. A pity- but, as Vonnegut says...
