API! It's the future! I don't know what it stands for, but I know it's the future! Tomorrow I'm going to wake up and wonder how the hell I ever lived without the API - even for a single day!
Bilby: yes it will! It'll do your shopping, wash your car, pleasure your wife, turn you into a nine-year-old hindu boy: get your API! (apologies Tom Waits).

I’d be interested in little promotional banners/buttons, esp. in the sizes 120×90, 120×60 or 88×31 for Wordnik. From time to time it would be fun to have something neat to make some promotion for the site. Has someone already created something of the sort?

Also Czech, "slovník", from "slova" -- though I don't know what the -nik does. Rather doubt it has anything to do with -nik as in 'peacenik'. If I knew a little less Czech I'd be tempted to set it down as one of the language's interminable diminutives, but that wouldn't make sense anyway...

Google (at this time) returns “about 3,390 results” for “Kindrow” that make no mention of “Wordnik”. It primarily (perhaps exclusively) appears as a surname. Thus (as mollusque pointed out), “Wordnik” is a bona fide anadrome (to the extent that it’s a bona fide word).

I get it, vendingmachine. The band Jump (formerly Jump, Little Children) wrote a song called Requiem that specifically acknowledges the fact that audiences don't like it when you play new songs from your new album. I think it's a similar sentiment: https://youtu.be/_r7g4kGbkvI

I don't doubt that there are well-meaning people doing their best with Wordnik. While the evaluation of an experienced past is by nature subjective, it is also my feeling that the vibe of Wordie as a community of word lovers was more rewarding in many ways.
