n. older collective slang term for chronic wanderers, itinerant misfits, criminals, migratory harvest workers, and lumber jacks. So named because they carried a "bindle." (beggars' bundle) George and Lenny in Of Mice and Men are bindle stiffs. Also "bindle-punks".
