  • an uncontrollable need to roll down the window and moo at passing cows

    February 20, 2008

  • How could I have forgotten about this word? Favorited!

    February 20, 2008

  • Hey, I think I have this. (I also have anserinexia--or so I've been told.)

    February 20, 2008

  • Me, too!

What is it about cars that inspires random outbursts - animal noises, reading of signs, etc?

    February 21, 2008

  • Trivet, you're my kind of person.

Well, I'll admit to animal noises, but I'm not a sign reader. Usually. ;->

    February 21, 2008

  • Who said anything about cars? Doesn't "passing cows" imply that the window is in a building?

What do you mean, cows don't walk past your house?

    February 21, 2008

  • Your office windows roll down, yarb?

    February 21, 2008

  • No. But wouldn't it be cool if they did?

    Architects: take note.

    February 21, 2008

  • If you moo at cows when you're not in a car, is it still bovilexia? What if you don't roll down the window?

Another vehicular bovine diversion is counting how many cows you see on your side of the road, versus how many your companion sees on the other. Passing a cemetery on your side kills your cows. Whoever collects the biggest herd wins.

    February 21, 2008

  • Mollusque, I like that game.

    February 21, 2008

  • There is a word for that, mollusque, after a fashion. See aboiement.

Is there something you'd like to...ummm...tell us?

    February 21, 2008

  • Well...I don't generally moo at cows, but I do tend to emphasize the "moo" in "moose" and "movies".

    February 21, 2008

  • Mollusque, your game is much grimmer than the animal cribbage my family always played in the car. Sounds fun, though!

    February 21, 2008

  • There are variants: if the cemetery has a church, the cows are saved. Passing a McDonald's or Burger King halves your herd, but a KFC or Chick-fil-A doubles it.

    February 21, 2008

  • Now I want to take a road trip with mollusque. When are we leaving?

*still wishing my office windows rolled down*

    February 21, 2008

  • Road trip! We could call it "Behold and Low".

    February 21, 2008

  • Haha! Dibs on the front passenger seat!

    February 21, 2008

  • You want me to drive? I do sneaky things like passing an 18-wheeler just when the big herd is coming up on your side of the road.

    February 22, 2008

  • Driver's back, then, please!

    February 22, 2008

  • That's okay, mollusque. I'll shriek appropriately.

    February 22, 2008

  • I just wanted to sneak the word pecorous into this discussion.

    February 22, 2008

  • What are you trying to say, sionnach? That this is a pecorous conversation? ;-)

    February 22, 2008

  • After 24 hours of onomatomania concerning this word, it still makes me burst out laughing if I think about it hard enough.

    February 22, 2008

  • Moo.

    February 22, 2008

  • This would definitely be A Long, Strange Trip (check the list).
