  • I think "chuckle" is not girly enough - how about girlygiggle?

    October 6, 2007

  • Sure, you can girlygiggle all you want!

  • Chuckle is definitely not an effeminate word. In fact when women are said to chuckle (in fiction, etc.), it's not usually complimentary. At least to me. Because I don't chuckle. Well... unless I'm going for a unisex kind of comic effect. But then... what the hell do I know? I don't even read fiction.

  • None of the women I know chuckle. They do, however, snerk, plarg, and hootle.

    October 6, 2007

  • I chuckle. I chuckle whenever I damn well please. Sometimes I giggle, and I have no idea if I've ever plarged, but I most definitely chuckle.

Of course, none of that is manlaughter, mind you. That's completely different.

    October 6, 2007

  • Oh I chuckle all the time, but I'm not exactly a girlygirl. Plus girlygiggle's got the alliteration going for it.

ETA: hootle?? I love it! Reminds me of tootle, which never fails to amuse.

  • Okay, then maybe we should have girlygiggle, but womanchuckle.

Maybe not. Now that I've typed it, it sounds kind of gross. :-P

    October 6, 2007

  • It's just about as disturbingly off as manlaughter, so perfect!
