  • Boarders did the haka at Sports Day this year, before tug o' war. We were teh alsome.

    July 28, 2008

  • Fantastic. I would love to see a Wordie haka.

    July 28, 2008

  • Hahaha! Great idea, yarb. We could line up our best, bizzarest, most tongue-popping words for that.

    July 28, 2008

  • GOOD IDEA.......

    WORDIES... UNITE!!

    July 29, 2008

  • WeirdNet, whither goest thou? For those who, like me, had to look this up, Wikipedia says a haka is "a traditional dance form of the M?ori of New Zealand. It is a posture dance with shouted accompaniment, performed by a group."

    July 29, 2008

  • Yep, sounds like Wordies.

    July 30, 2008

  • I'm sure there's plenty of video of hakas on YouTube and the like.

  • One of our local high school teams got in trouble for dancing the haka before their football games last year. I think they decided to take their 15 yard penalty and keep dancing.

    July 30, 2008

  • Wise choice.

    July 30, 2008

  • This haka dancing sounds like fun! I love that the football players take the penalty just to dance it out!

Can we get a haka line going on The Porch?

    July 30, 2008

  • How strong is the porch's foundation?

    July 30, 2008

  • I find it rather intimidating.

    July 30, 2008

  • Update: Yes, there is plenty of haka on You Tube. From the more or less genuine Polynesian versions to the stylised rugby ones, to dancing gingerbreads and French fruit *sigh*

    July 30, 2008

  • For trivet: an early stylized rugby haka.

    July 30, 2008

  • Thanks, yarb. This is what we have around here.

    July 30, 2008

  • They're not perfect, trivet, but at least they're putting their backs into it. I call that a pretty impressive haka. Unbelievable about other teams complaining because it's "scary"! Sébastien Chabal demonstrates the correct response.

    July 30, 2008

  • Those videos are a hoot! We'd better do the haka in the yard...

    July 31, 2008

  • Great yarb! Chabal's such a caveman.
