  • I remember when I read Ender's Game (not a big fan) I saw this word and had to ask my father what it meant. I'm sure I asked him the meaning of many words during my childhood, but for some reason, this one sticks out.

  • My parents aren't terribly literary. I think I only asked my dad what a word meant once, and his response was "look it up." So that became the normal procedure for me. Of course, I grew up on the internet, and dictionary.com has been my friend for many years.
