A bird associated with forests, sometimes open woodlands. It is a colonial breeder that keeps several long woven basket nests in a tree, each hanging from the end of a branch. A gregarious bird that eats large insects and fruit. Oropendolas are very vocal and produce a wide range of songs, including mimicry.
