- noun Any of a group of compounds containing a hydroxyl group bonded to a carbon atom, which in turn is doubly bonded to a nitrogen atom. An oxime is formed by treating an aldehyde or ketone with hydroxylamine.

They have played an important part in the study of the stereochemistry of nitrogen. Their formation indicates the presence of carbonyl oxygen in the substances from which they are derived.

From the pronunciation guidance I find it rhymes with mock steam, but I have not found a true two-syllable, one-word rhyme.
