reesetee commented on the word rebacked
A repair of a book in which the original spine or backstrip is removed, the spine replaced or reinforced, and the original reglued on top of the repair. In the rare/antique book business, this can be considered a defect, but such a book is generally still more valuable than one with no intact spine.
