Sounds as if it should be a verb, doesn't it? "Ivan had been schtoffing the scullerymaid for weeks now, and sooner or later someone was bound to find out".
But, in fact a schtoff is a traditional Russian unit of volume equal to 10 charki. This is equivalent to about 1.23 liters or 1.30 U.S. liquid quarts.
