It seems WeirdNET isn't quite sure if this word could mean "a native or inhabitant of the United States," so it has to say it three times. For an interesting argument, see the second WeirdNET definition on Virginians and imagine the conversation between a Virginian (native or inhabitant of the United States) and a Yankee (native or inhabitant of the United States). Whooooeeeee!! Sounds like FUN!

Good Yankee-used-as-adjective quote found today. The Staunton (Va.) Vindicator, May 3, 1861:
