Thanks! I've started to think of this site as my second brain--I'm not sure I've done such a great job with my first one, so it's always nice to know that the one here is being cared for by trained professionals. :-)

Thanks for the alphaliterals Zeke. I added all but a couple to the list. Hope you'll start a few lists of your own.

zeke commented on the word npm
Contrary to the belief of many, "npm" is not in fact an abbreviation for "Node Package Manager". It is a recursive bacronymic abbreviation for "npm is not an acronym". (If it was "ninaa", then it would be an acronym, and thus incorrectly named.)

zeke commented on the word ETAOIN SHRDLU
ETAOIN SHRDLU is a nonsense phrase that sometimes appeared in print in the days of "hot type" publishing because of a custom of Linotype machine operators. It appeared frequently enough that it became part of the lore of newspapers.

“Zany is not what we need in a president.” - Mitt Romney, talking about Newt Gingrich.
“Zany is great in a campaign. It’s great on talk radio. It’s great in print, it makes for fun reading,” Mr. Romney told The New York Times. “But in terms of a president, we need a leader, and a leader needs to be someone who can bring Americans together.”

zeke commented on the word referer
The misspelling referer originated in the original proposal by computer scientist Phillip Hallam-Baker to incorporate the field into the HTTP specification. The misspelling was set in stone by the time of its incorporation into the standards document Request for Comments (RFC) 1945; document co-author Roy Fielding has remarked that neither "referrer" nor the misspelling "referer" were recognized by the standard Unix spell checker of the period. "Referer" has since become a widely used spelling in the industry when discussing HTTP referrers; usage of the misspelling is not universal, though, as the correct spelling of "referrer" is used in some web specifications such as the Document Object Model.

zeke commented on the word new interface
Hey insiders, I've rewritten the comments section from the ground up, so you should be able to CRUD with ease now. The new code is much cleaner, and the new commenting features will soon be making their way into the rest of the site. As always, be vocal if you have any trouble.

zeke commented on the word CRUD
In computer programming, create, read, update and delete (CRUD) are the four basic functions of persistent storage. It is sometimes used to describe user interface conventions that facilitate viewing, searching, and changing information; often using computer-based forms and reports. The term was likely first popularized by James Martin in a 1983 book titled "Managing the Data-base Environment".

zeke commented on the user feedback
@bilby I agree that the current tag interface is clunky, but it's a step toward a larger (and perhaps radical) goal: When you look up a particular tag, you should have access to lots of information about its life not just as a tag but also as a word. The word is the unit.
We're working to roll out features that let users add their own data for lots of relationship types such as synonyms, antonyms, hypernyms, hyponyms, rhymes, alternative spellings, and so on, giving scope to the otherwise free-form, subjective, and ambiguous approach to taxonomizing that is tagging.
That said, keep the scrutiny coming and bear with us as we improve the new site!

zeke commented on the word autological
Utahraptor: So is "heterological" heterological?
T-Rex: Well if it IS, then it's self-describing, which means autological. And if it ISN'T, then it's autological again too. Huh. If this paradox is supposed to make me trip balls, you should know I've taken the precaution of having them TIGHTLY SECURED.

zeke commented on the word resource
"The key abstraction of information in REST is a resource. Any information that can be named can be a resource: a document or image, a temporal service (e.g. "today's weather in Los Angeles"), a collection of other resources, a non-virtual object (e.g. a person), and so on. In other words, any concept that might be the target of an author's hypertext reference must fit within the definition of a resource. A resource is a conceptual mapping to a set of entities, not the entity that corresponds to the mapping at any particular point in time." - Excerpt from Roy Fielding's dissertation on REST

zeke commented on the user feedback
re: tweets and photos, we hear you. We've architected the new site in a very modular way, one of the motivators being that we want to let users decide what to see and what to hide.
A note about the tweets: As you know they've been displayed on the site for some time now, but in this new release we've added some additional filtering to help eliminate 'lower quality' tweets. Tweets that match any of the following criteria are rejected:
- Tweet text contains links
- Tweet text contains @replies
- Tweet author name contains the current word
Believe it or not this has drastically improved the quality of the tweets we're displaying. But like I said, you'll soon be able to set a user preference to obliterate whatever modules you wish.
