  • Thomas Hart Benton was a camofleur--I think Arshile Gorky was one, too--but often I see this spelled as camoufleur. Which spelling do we prefleur?

  • *facepalm* ...camoufleur is obviously the correct form. I think that is why I had little success finding citations.
    Here is a google books search ngram showing that camoufleur is by far the more prevalent spelling; in fact the number of instances of camOfleur is below the threshold needed to appear in the graph.

  • Well we can leat them have camoufleur and we are now free to completely subvert camofleur to our hearts' content.

    I look at the -fleur and think that it should mean repurposing a piece of military hardware, like say a tank, by using it as a planter for flowers.

    At least in Bilby's Alternate Universe.
