oroboros commented on the word double-eagle
The Holy Grail of golfers: to hit the ball into the hole in 2 on a 5-par hole. This is arguably a more remarkable accomplishment than a hole-in-one because the number of golfers who can reach a 5-par in two strokes is much smaller than the number who can hit a par 3 hole in one stroke. Nowadays a hole-in-one on a 4-par hole is more of a possibility and if/when one is made, it would surpass even the double-eagle.
