  • "Newb" is an abbreviated form of "newbie," mostly used by the gaming community, especially those who play massively multiplayer online role-playing games, or MMORPGs (think "World of Warcraft"), to refer to players who have just started and are usually trying to take on challenges for which they or the character they play do not possess enough experience, thereby bringing down the rest of the group involved, which is already up to speed.
