I like this list. I like Michael Chabon. Citations from Chabon's novels would be great.

I added my old citations from Kavalier and Clay to this list, although I'm sure there are many more words that I could have cited in that book.

This is a nice idea – listing words by the books one reads. I may take it up.

Rolig, I agree with your first comment--just finished reading The Yiddish Policemen's Union, actually, and all along I kept thinking, "This is great. I should put this on Wordie." :-)
A few other Wordies have been adding words based on books they've read, including yarb, chained_bear, and sionnach (apologies to anyone I've missed).

Go to it, r.t.! I had the same thought when reading Alan Hollinghurst last year (The Folding Star), but alas I am a slacker at heart and only a couple of words from that man's astonishing vocabulary made it onto Wordie.

I just finished The Adventures of Augie March, which I had planned to cull for words, but gave up when I realised I needed to be reading it without pausing - but I'll read it again and give it a richly-deserved Wordie-isation. Easily a 150-200 word list in that one.

Yes, I think I'd have to do the same with any Chabon novel.

Yarb, that was my thinking reading the Aubrey/Maturin novels--I'll just read and list stuff later--but around book 5 I thought, "who am I kidding?" and started dogearing all the pages with words I wanted to list. Twelve hundred words later... And I still haven't done books 1-5.
