Palooka -- Did you SEE the graphic of the gal with the "finger pointing thing" on the link?
I thought that was creepy without being funny. *crying*

She is kind of creepy dontcry. She seems to be saying "I'm hiring you whether you like it or not."

That's what I'm saying. *rocking furiously on the porch*

I thought she was making an especially emphatic ASL G. Sort of a voodoo ASL thing.
But wait...nah, it's sideways. You're right. She's just trying to hire you whether you like it or not.

What is an ASL reesetee? Ten minutes after I post this question I'll probably figure it out.

You know, looking at her again, it kind of looks like she's doing the "I'm squishing your head" thing. You know -- from far away. But I'm not sure how that works with the whole job hunting thing...

If you're going job hunting, you should be prepared for some major head-squishing along with other forms of disfigurement & sundry atrocities and tortures. I think this graphic may be trying to honestly portray the job interview process.

The question "Why do you want to work for us?" reminds me of the cartoon in which the job interviewer tells the applicant "Just the fact you want to work here is a strike against you."

The gestures for concepts differ from country to country, and even between regions in the same country.

Apparently, American sign is very close to the French sign, and completely different to the British and Australian. Which is interesting.

Palooka, I see that your question has been answered already, so I'll just chime in by nodding my head. :-) And yes, plethora and kewpid are right--sign languages differ across regions and countries (in my area, even some words/signs differ across the state border). ASL derives from the French, so it's closer to that version. British sign language is very different from American.
Still, I think dontcry may be right--that woman definitely wants to squish your head. I simply can't work for her.
