Father Symondson also has a great interest in the matter of vestments and he recently wished to submit to the NLM a piece considering the "Borromean" form of chasuble, which is the style that might be said to sit halfway between the more full flowing "gothic" form and the typical Baroque form that we are accustomed to seeing.

With this noble statue ends my admiration of Borromean taste: for it is not to be borne that the Isola Bella, which nature intended as a central finish to such a fairy land as the Lago Maggiore, should have been tortured into a piece of confectionary less elegant than the good taste of Gunter or Grange would have devised as the centre of a bowl of lemon cream.

According to Wikipedia, in mathematics, Borromean rings consist of three topological circles which are linked and form a Brunnian link; i.e., removing any ring results in two unlinked rings. In other words, no two of the three rings are linked with each other, but nonetheless all three are linked.

Surely they're Latvian in origin. Ruzuzu?

My mother always told me that the way to figure out which girl was the true Latvian princess was to see which one could successfully untie some special knot. She'd usually say this when I was working on a hopeless mess of yarn or monofilament or shoelaces. But it all makes sense, since not only is Latvia the birthplace of all other languages (see goropism), but it was also the origin of all culture, civilization, and mythology.
Thank you for understanding these things, bilby.

Thanks, fbharjo, I'd forgotten. Here's more about the Efimov state and the Borromeo family: http://www.uibk.ac.at/exphys/ultracold/?http://www.uibk.ac.at/exphys/ultracold/projects/levt/efimov/
(It's a bit iroquoisy for me because I was at a Burns Supper yesterday where we were discussing dewer flasks (and flasks of Dewer's) and how they relate to cryogenics and refrigeration.)
