A two- or three-masted lugger on the coasts of Spain and Portugal and in the Mediterranean Sea, probably first occurring during the 17th century. They were used in Spain and Portugal for fishing but were employed by the Royal Navy in Mediterranean waters for shore raids or as dispatch boats.
