fauxtatoes, wombastic?
March 5, 2007
abraxaszugzwang commented on the list product-of-wordie
Thanks. Wombastic is added, but I'm not convinced fauxtatoes is a product of Wordie.

oroboros commented on the list product-of-wordie
You're right AZ. I found 'fauxtatoes' on another site. Can't remember now which one...

HA HA!! Love this list!
You might find some more suggestions on the list "Favorite Words that Aren't Really Words." I wouldn't suggest them here because I'm not the one who can say whether they were invented on Wordie--but if you're looking for more, it might help.

Thanks c_b. Until I get some background on some of those words, I guess I'll have to wait to add them. But I'll send word home to Squiggy that his nickname made your list!

Oh, I have a feeling this list will grow.... :-)
March 5, 2007
abraxaszugzwang commented on the list product-of-wordie
It damn well better. Get to inventin' people!

reesetee commented on the list product-of-wordie
AZ, I think I just came up with one by accident. See googlewhack.

abraxaszugzwang commented on the list product-of-wordie
suuuure, by accident. You'll own this list in no time.

reesetee commented on the list product-of-wordie
NO, really! It just...er...popped into my head! This place will do that to you.

Trivet's depontificate?
March 5, 2007
abraxaszugzwang commented on the list product-of-wordie
was it invented on Wordie?
March 5, 2007
trivet commented on the list product-of-wordie
Yes - see deponticate. I'm all about the coinage.
March 5, 2007
abraxaszugzwang commented on the list product-of-wordie
added, and fantabulous word!
March 5, 2007
reesetee commented on the list product-of-wordie
Oh yes. I can affirm that depontificate was coined right here!

uselessness commented on the list product-of-wordie
I was going to mention sionnach's expectatory, but maybe that would be unwise.
March 5, 2007
chained_bear commented on the list product-of-wordie
un-favorite. I can verify that it was coined on Wordie. It can be a verb or a noun.
March 5, 2007
uselessness commented on the list product-of-wordie
Surely un-favorite isn't original? So many web sites these days allow "favoriting" of one thing or another, and removing said thing from your favorites list is naturally referred to as un-favoriting it. Maybe without the hyphen. I'm sure it's been used by plenty of other parties before Wordie ever entered the picture.
I can, however, vouch for stuffie, poetrie, tunie, and democracie. Those are all uniquely Wordie. Wordian. Wordiesh. Whatever.

trivet commented on the list product-of-wordie
so speaks our resident wordinista:)
March 5, 2007
chained_bear commented on the list product-of-wordie
Well, it's true, I haven't gone searching around the Net for "un-favorite." But what about trivet's wordinista? ;)
March 5, 2007
uselessness commented on the list product-of-wordie
That was Stephen Colbert. :-)
March 5, 2007
reesetee commented on the list product-of-wordie
Maybe so. But Wordienista (with the extra "e") would be All Ours. ;-)
March 6, 2007
chained_bear commented on the list product-of-wordie
OK, well, I'm batting a thousand here.
Incidentally, is there a "poetrie" or "tunie" term for "movie"? I changed the title of a list today, but the best I could come up with in my mentally crippled state was "moviee." Which kind of sucks, I freely admit.

trivet commented on the list product-of-wordie
filmie? cinemie?
Mmm...cinemie toast...maybe less movie, more breakfast.
March 6, 2007
reesetee commented on the list product-of-wordie
Oooh, now *there's* an idea, c_b. You thinking of movie dialogue?
And trivet, you're right: filmie sounds like negligee and cinemie makes me want breakfast. ;-) Hmm...how 'bout Talkie? It harks back to the early days of cinema....
March 6, 2007
chained_bear commented on the list product-of-wordie
No, not movie dialogue, just words from films. I wouldn't want to put in entire lines of dialogue. Though nothing's really stopping people from doing that, I'd imagine it would be pretty irritating.
I like cinemie toast but it isn't quite right. Filmie could work. AZ, what do you think? Since we're spamming your very nice list...
March 6, 2007
uselessness commented on the list product-of-wordie
I vote for scriptie in all seriousness, and hollywoodie if we're just joking around.
March 6, 2007
chained_bear commented on the list product-of-wordie
You know, scriptie is not bad at all. Figuring that any words entered on a Wordie list about a given film would have been *spoken* in the film, they would have to have been written first. And especially since I dabble in screenwriting myself, it makes sense to honor the scriptwriter rather than the film itself for featuring said words. Thanks, u.
March 6, 2007
uselessness commented on the list product-of-wordie
That was pretty much my reasoning. That, and I think it just sounds better, and without any questionable connotations. ;-)
March 6, 2007
abraxaszugzwang commented on the list product-of-wordie
Of course, movies are not the only things with scripts. And what about ad libbing, or am I just being difficult?
March 6, 2007
uselessness commented on the list product-of-wordie
All the more reason why scriptie is such a versatile word. And maybe I'm just a hasty cynic, but I'm not sure that any Wordieworthy words have ever been ad libbed. Mostly that spontaneous dialog is just throwaway filler, isn't it?
March 6, 2007
abraxaszugzwang commented on the list product-of-wordie
What about Don Cheadle's "This situation has a high potentiality for the common motherfucker to bitch out"? That was adlibbed.
March 6, 2007
chained_bear commented on the list product-of-wordie
AZ, I love you. Or wait... maybe I love Don Cheadle.
March 6, 2007
abraxaszugzwang commented on the list product-of-wordie
You love us both :)

chained_bear commented on the list product-of-wordie
I found this list again, somehow, and cracked up reading this again. What's wrong with me? I must have been away too long.
Also, I still love AbraxasZugzwang, AND Don Cheadle. Because, in all seriousness, this situation has a high potentiality for the common motherfucker to bitch out.

I found this list, cracked up reading it, then thought "I should post a comment about that," and realized that 5 months ago, I already did.
It's still bitching out. :)
